An old-established social networking site (one of the first large networks) that claims to have over 35 million professional members. Its aim is to help you find clients, partners, employees or a new job. You can exchange information on the professional forums, or find old friends or colleagues, or at least, that’s what it says.

- Viadeo is a network aimed primarily at professionals, salaried employees, people in the liberal professions, service companies and consultants. There are hardly any senior managers, so don’t expect to find them. This network attracts quite a lot of people looking for jobs. The “hubs or groups” (public forums) set up are, with a few exceptions, not very active. I placed an ad to find a supplier, and got only one reply. What is more, the website is attracting increasing numbers of professionals trying to promote their business, which clutters up the hubs. This pollution is not, alas, peculiar to Viadeo, as all the major networks suffer from it. From the ergonomic standpoint, the site is easy to use, but the design is not very up to date.
