JPEG

This is a commonly used format for uploading images and photos on the internet. Even a digital image has to have a format: it’s a way of telling the computer how the pixels in a particular image are arranged. The Jpeg format is especially well suited to the internet as it both preserves the quality of the image (up to a point), and at the same time compacts it, making it very light. It is pronounced “jaypeg”.
