- It’s the ISP that you curse regularly when there are “works” going on or your connection goes dead, because it can deprive you of your internet “fix” for hours or days at a time, without warning. Well, you can always go back to the good old low-speed dial-up technique using your land line, prehistoric though it now seems. The ISP is also dreaded by teenage hackers, who know it will report them. It’s the ISP that gives the names of online offenders to the authorities.
