Hypertext Markup Language, usually abbreviated to HTML, is a computer language based on markups for designing web pages, in particular for creating hypertext, hence its name. HTML also enables content to be put on web pages, including images.

  • While the name is technical-sounding if not downright weird, we should remember that HTML is among the most accessible of computer languages. It allowed all those geeks out there to create web pages and generate the internet boom that took place between 1994 and 2005. Since then, networks like Facebook have enabled great strides to be made in terms of the simplicity and accessibility of computer language.
